Dr. Scott Solomon, MD, Director

Dr. Solomon is Director, CICL, and Director, Noninvasive Cardiology Brigham and Women's Hospital, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Solomon has extensive expertise in directing imaging-related research studies and has led the imaging component of numerous international clinical trials. Dr. Solomon has written over 150 peer reviewed articles, two textbooks of echocardiography, and the iPhone Echocardiography Atlas by Epocrates. Dr. Solomon also serves as Associate Editor at Circulation. Dr. Solomon is a graduate of Williams College and Harvard Medical School.


Dr. Amil Shah, MD, MPH, Co-Director

Dr. Shah serves as Co-Director of the CICL. Dr. Shah is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an attending cardiologist and echocardiographer at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr Shah’s research is primarily funded by the NIH/NHLBI. He has expertise in imaging related outcomes research. Dr. Shah is a graduate of Brown University, University of Pennsylvania Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health.


Dr. Hicham Skali, MD, MPH, Associate Director

Dr. Skali has broad non-invasive cardiovascular imaging experience and is an attending physician in the echocardiography and nuclear cardiology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Skali has worked with the CICL for over a decade and has co-authored more than 60 articles on topics related to cardiac imaging and clinical trials.


 

Faculty

Dr. Ron Blankstein, MD

Dr. Blankstein has broad experience in multiple non-invasive cardiac imaging modalities, including cardiac MRI, CT, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography. Dr. Blankstein serves as Co-Director of the Noninvasive Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship training program at the Brigham and Women's Hospital.


Dr. Akshay Desai, MD, MPH

Dr. Desai directs the arterial tonometry section of the CICL and has experience working on a number of completed and ongoing clinical trials. Dr. Desai is an attending physician in the Advanced Heart Disease Section of the Brigham and Women's Hospital and has clinical expertise in the management of heart failure.


Dr. Sheila Hegde, MD, MPH

Dr. Hegde has non-invasive cardiovascular imaging experience in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology and is an attending echocardiographer at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Hegde is a graduate of Northwestern University, University of Kansas School of Medicine, and Harvard School of Public Health.


Dr. Raymond Kwong, MD

Dr. Kwong has extensive experience in non-invasive cardiac imaging modalities with a focus on cardiac MRI. Dr. Kwong is a recognized leader in cardiac MRI research and also serves as the Director of Cardiac MRI at the Brigham and Women's Hospital.


Dr. Judy Mangion, MD

Dr. Mangion is an expert clinical echocardiographer and has directed multiple academic echocardiography labs previously. Dr. Mangion has served on numerous committees and task forces of the American Society of Echocardiography and has also served on its Board of Directors.


Dr. Justina Wu, MD, PhD

Dr. Wu has expertise in the non-invasive and hemodynamic assessment of surgical and percutaneous cardiac devices. Dr. Wu serves as Associate Director of the Non-invasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory at the Brigham and Women's Hospital.
